Humanscale, a design firm specializing in wellbeing solutions in the workplace, recently partnered with Arianna Huffington’s new company Thrive Global, in a joint venture to create new initiatives to combat fatigue, stress, and burnouts in the office.
Humanscale and Thrive Global’s new joint initiative includes a pop-up shop in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood starting in December, which will offer live demonstrations, education, and trials of products for the workplace. Their collective goal is to provide “an integrated approach to ending stress” through corporate trainings and “an e-commerce platform that offers top technology and well-being products,” says the official release.
“We are a company deeply rooted in science and dedicated to helping people go from knowing what to do to bring more well-being into their lives to actually doing it,” Arianna Huffington says in the release. “I am so excited about the amazing collection of products, services and technologies we’re featuring at Thrive Global that will help people improve their well-being and productivity and lead healthier and more joyful lives.”
According to a report by the American Psychology Association, “workers at every level are experiencing increased tension and uncertainty.” With longer work hours and open space offices becoming the norm, the need for new ergonomic workplace designs is more pressing than ever. It’s no longer simply a matter of designing for aesthetics and functionality, but also for productivity and wellness.
Humanscale aims to design “functional, lasting ergonomic products that [are] easy to use and promote a healthy work environment” with an emphasis on the human factor. The new initiatives include a media platform designed for “conversation about well-being and productivity” to “end the stress and burnout epidemic,” and a range of physical workstations featuring sit-stand desks, task lighting, and keyboard systems.
New workplace solutions will be on display at Thrive Global’s NYC store from December 1st – January 15, 2017.
